However, Hatchet, which like Dogsong was a Newbery Honor Book, has been recommended by several others, so when I saw it recently at a used curriculum sale, I picked it up. I found it so revolting and disgusting that I gave it a NOT RECOMMENDED rating and resolved never to read any other books by this author. The only other book by Paulsen that I had read was Dogsong.
